Recent offensive operations conducted by troops of OPERATION HADIN KAI have resulted in the discovery of about 60 heavily primed Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Headquarters Theatre Command, OPERATION HADIN KAI, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, disclosed this on Friday, adding that several terrorists were eliminated while assorted weapons were also recovered in the operations.
According to Kovangiya, troops on 3 July 2025, while conducting operations around Marte and Dikwa general areas, discovered a large quantity of IEDs at a bridge linking Marte – Dikwa, believed to have been stashed by the terrorists to unleash mayhem and destroy critical national infrastructure. The recovery, he said has significantly thwarted a disaster in the general area.
In the same vein, a coordinated fighting patrol conducted by troops along Fulatari in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State, led to the capture of a terrorist fighter as well as the recovery of an AK-47 rifle with magazine and large quantity of ammunition.
Meanwhile, another combat team on operations around Mussini in Ngala Local Government Area came in contact with and engaged the terrorists using superior fire power forcing the terrorists to scamper in disarray. Troops during pursuit, recovered AK-47 rifles, jerry cans of premium motor spirit, motorcycles, and terrorists’ uniforms among other sundry items.
In Mafa Local Government Area, troops on offensive operations at Salekwa area made further contact with the insurgents neutralising some fighters while others fled. While exploiting the general area, troops recovered AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines and the body of one neutralized terrorist.
The Military High Command, while commending troops for their resilience have assured their continued conduction of series of operations in high spirits, with close air support from the Air Component Command of OPHK and collaboration with relevant security agencies and stakeholders, to facilitate socio-economic activities in the North East.
