The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), has alerted electricity consumers in Maiduguri and its environs of a scheduled maintenance at the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant (MEPP).
According to NISO, the maintenance exercise is scheduled to commence from 05:00 hours on Thursday, 6th November 2025 and is expected to be completed 18:00 hours on Sunday, 9th November 2025.
The System Operators, explained that the planned maintenance was part of ongoing efforts to ensure the reliability, efficiency and optimal performance of the generation facility supplying electricity to the Maiduguri area.
“It is a routine operational requirement aimed to guarantee sustained and stable electricity supply in the long term,” it said.
NISO said during the maintenance period, there would be a total outage in Maiduguri and surrounding communities.
“This is due to the combined effort of the ongoing outage on the Gombe/Damaturu/Molai 330kV transmission line, which was affected by tower vandalization, and the temporary shutdown of the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant (MEPP) for maintenance,” it said.
The System Operator, however, assured that the power supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the maintenance work and stabilization of the network.
“The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) sincerely regrets the inconvenience this may cause and appeals for the patience, understanding and cooperation of all electricity consumers within the affected areas.
“We assure the public that efforts are being made to ensure the timely completion of the maintenance and restoration of normal power supply. Thank you for understanding,” it said.
