DataPro Trains Banks, Fintechs On Spotting Hidden Weapons-Financing Risks

By Sunday Etuka

Financial institutions and businesses that want to close compliance gaps flagged in recent regional evaluations are being offered a two-day virtual training on countering proliferation financing, to be run by DataPro Limited on October 27 and 28, 2026.

DataPro, a compliance and credit-rating agency, said the programme will focus on Countering Proliferation Financing (CPF) and compliance with Targeted Financial Sanctions.

It is aimed at banks, fintech companies and Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs) that need to detect suspicious transactions and meet regulatory requirements.

The training comes as global attention on compliance with international standards for combating illicit financial flows continues to grow.

According to DataPro, it will address shortcomings identified in recent mutual evaluation reports by the Inter-Governmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA).

Compliance professionals will be given practical tools for conducting risk assessments, applying customer due diligence and meeting statutory reporting obligations, the agency said.

Participants will also learn to strengthen internal compliance policies, sharpen transaction monitoring and recognise red flags associated with proliferation financing.

The curriculum is built around five core modules: the fundamentals of CPF, reviews of internal policies and procedures, institutional risk assessments, advanced customer due diligence, and transaction monitoring and regulatory reporting.

DataPro said the programme should help participating organisations align their operations with Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards and be better prepared for regulatory reviews and audits.

Sessions will run on Zoom from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. The participation fee is ₦100,000 per person, excluding Value Added Tax (VAT), with discounted rates for group registrations.

The agency encouraged organisations to nominate their compliance officers and other relevant staff, adding that registration is subject to available spaces.
