As part of the ongoing war against internet fraud in the country, the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have arrested 31 suspected internet fraudsters in Benin City, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The anti-graft’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale who disclosed the development in a statement on Friday said, the suspects were arrested following actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in computer- related fraud.
According to him, the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Commission recovered from the 27 suspects the sum of N590,000, nine exotic cars, laptops and phones.
Similarly, he explained that the suspects in Abuja were picked up in a pre-dawn operation in Karu axis of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja following credible intelligence on their alleged involvements in fraudulent internet activities.
He said, Items recovered from the 4 suspects include: a black-coloured Lexus AS 350 car with Abuja registration number: YAB115CE, ash-coloured Toyota Camry car with Abuja registration number: RSH 993 CV, mobile phones and laptops.
He said, the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
