Bandit kingpin, Kachalla Harisu, has been killed in an internal clash among rival factions in the dense forests between Safana and Dutsin-Ma Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
Disclosing this on Wednesday via his X handle, security analyst and counter insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, said Harisu was killed alongside 10 of his gang members.
Zagazola said intelligence sources confirmed to him that the bloody confrontation occurred in the early hours of Tuesday following a disagreement over ransom sharing and territorial control.
“Kachalla Harisu and his men had been at odds with another faction over recent ransom collections and leadership structure. The dispute escalated into a shootout that left him and 10 of his loyalists dead,” the source said.
The late Harisu had been on the radar of security agencies for years, linked to a string of deadly attacks, mass kidnappings, and cattle rustling operations across several communities in Katsina and neighbouring Zamfara state.
