FAAN Assures Passengers Of Continued Airport Operations Amid Strike

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured air travellers that airport operations across the country remain safe, secure and functional despite the ongoing industrial action by aviation unions.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, FAAN said it was closely monitoring the situation and working with relevant aviation agencies, airlines, security agencies and other stakeholders to minimise the impact of the industrial action on passengers and flight operations.
The Authority also acknowledged the role of organised labour, while expressing support for efforts by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and other stakeholders to resolve the dispute.
“FAAN recognises the legitimate role of organised labour and supports the ongoing efforts of the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, and other stakeholders towards an amicable resolution of the issues at hand,” the statement said.
FAAN disclosed that earlier operational challenges affecting the movement of some flights within the airside environment had been addressed through inter-agency coordination.

The airport authority said measures were being sustained to ensure the orderly continuation of flight operations and prevent further disruptions.
It reaffirmed its commitment to keeping the nation’s airports “safe, secure, functional and accessible” to passengers and other airport users.
FAAN urged passengers to remain calm and maintain direct contact with their respective airlines for real-time updates on their flights.
The Authority expressed appreciation to travellers for their understanding and patience, adding that it remained confident that the ongoing engagements under the leadership of the aviation minister would result in “a speedy and mutually acceptable resolution” of the issues.
