The Niger State Police Command has recovered the drowned bodies of victims of a fatal road accident that occured on Saturday, May 24.
The state Command’s spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed that the victims include a priest, Reverend Father James Omeh, Parish Priest of Saint Anthony Catholic Church Gulu, and one Charity John, a staff of Divine Mercy Hospital Dutsen Kura.
According to the Command, on the fateful day at about 10:00pm, the victims were traveling in a white Hilux vehicle en route to Gulu via Lapai when they missed their route due to poor visibility and ran into a nearby flooded stream caused by heavy rainfall, leading to their drowning.

On receiving the report the following day, personnel were mobilized to the scene around 11:30 am. Local divers recovered the bodies, which were subsequently released to Father Paul Moroa, the Parish Priest of Lapai, for Christian burial rites. The vehicle was also recovered and towed to the police station.
