Fraction Emerge As Plateau APC Leadership Crisis Deepen
The All Progressive Congress APC in Plateau state has been throw into dilemma as two factions are now vying for the leadership of the Party after the Ishaya Itse faction reopened the case in court, insisting that it be recognized as the original EXCO.
TheFact daily reports that while Rufus Bature’s faction insists that all the Matters have been settled, the Itse faction said they were left with no choice after the collapse of the out-of-court settlement.
Ishaya Itse who insists on being the factional chairman of APC in the state said the failure of the Rufus Bature-led exco to honour its part of the bargain in the aftermath of the 2021 state Congress is the reason they are back in court.
Itse, who gave the Rufus Bature faction two weeks to leave the party secretariat, said his executive board is ready for a confrontation because their fight is for a better Plateau state.
When contacted, Sylvanus Naamang, spokesman for the Rufus Bature faction, denied the allegations, saying the matter had already been settled out of court.
In addition to the preliminary elections and court delegate matters, barley was ready a few weeks before the start of the general election 2023.
