The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Barr. Nyesom Wike has regretted installing Siminalayi Fubara as the Governor of Rivers State, declaring that the mistake would be corrected in due time.

Wike who was the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, spoke in respect of the ongoing crisis between him and Fubara.

The Minister while speaking at a grand civic reception organised in Ogun-Bolo in honour of Chief Thompson Sekibo, begged the people for forgiveness, and vowed to correct the error at the right time.

“I want to say this clearly, in life we have made a mistake. I have made a mistake. I own it up and I say God forgive me. I have said all of you forgive me. But we will correct it at the appropriate time. I am a human, I am bound to make a mistake. So forgive me for making a wrong judgement. So nobody should kill”, Wike said.

He, however, told Fubara and his loyalists that no injunctions obtained from any quarters will stop the law and due process from taking its course in the state.

“If they like they can go to anybody by 2am or 4am to get injunction. The law will take its course. We must follow due process”, he said.

The fight between Wike and Fubara has plunged the state into political crisis, now affecting the development of the state.

In November last year, President Bola Tinubu waded into the crisis with the signing of peace deal between the two warring parties.

However, the peace deal could not be sustained as animosity has returned between the two political warlords, defying all known solutions.
