Mr. John Okechukwu Ikeotuonye has emerged as the candidate of the Action Alliance for the November 6, 2021 Anambra State governorship election.
Mr. Ikeotuonye defeated five other aspirants to clinch the ticket at the party’s primary held in Awka, Anambra State on Thursday.
TheFact Nigeria gathered that the candidate polled 75, out of the 101 votes cast to make way for his emergence.
Out of a total number of 105 delegates expected, 101 were accredited and a total 101 casted their votes, there were no invalid votes.
The 101 accredited delegates voted in the process which was conducted by indirect Option A4.
This information was contained in the result sheet of the Action Alliance governorship primaries for Anambra State as signed by Chairman of the Election/Electoral Committee, Mr. Vernimbe James, and Secretary, Kingsley Joseph.
Chairman of the Election/Electoral Committee, Mr. Vernimbe James who is also the party’s National Secretary announced the result.
He said: “I, Vernimbe A. James, Chairman election/electoral committee hereby state that Anambra State governorship primary of Action Alliance held on 1st July 2021 and John Okechucku Ikeotuonye, having scored the highest number of votes for the said primaries, he is hereby declared the winner and returned elected as the Action Alliance Governorship candidate for November 6th, 2021 Governorship elections in Anambra State”.
It was gathered that the aspirants all congratulated the winner and were grateful to the party for a free and fair process.
The candidate, Mr. Ikeotuonye however declined comment pending the hand over (of the party’s flag) ceremony to be held at the Action Alliance National Secretariat in Abuja.
Action Alliance’s National Chairman, Chief Kenneth Udeze told TheFact Nigeria that he was “Very satisfied” with the process.
Chief Udeze said: “We thank God for conducting a rancour free primary. We look forward to hit the ground running for our campaign..Action Alliance factor will surely determine who becomes the next governor of Anambra state. The party is.set to defend the mandate given to us by members across Nigeria and the mandate given to our candidate today.”
