By Anne Osemekeh, Abuja

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, has expressed concern over the lack of arms for Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel.

Gambari, who made the call during a visit by Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed to the Emir’s palace in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday April 29, 2025, emphasized the need for adequate equipment to ensure effective duty performance.

The Emir highlighted the longstanding issue of FRSC personnel being unarmed, urging the government to address this concern to guarantee personnel safety and effectiveness.

In response, the Corps Marshal appreciated the Emir’s advocacy, while acknowledging the risks FRSC personnel face due to lack of arms.

He assured that his administration is working to boost staff morale, including ongoing housing projects, and emphasized that arming personnel and ensuring installation security would enable the Corps to focus on its core mandate of promoting road safety and reducing crashes.
