Kwara Police CP Launches Surprise Inspection, Orders Officers To Stay Alert

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, has begun unannounced inspections of police divisions and formations across the state to assess operational readiness, discipline and the working conditions of personnel.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying the exercise commenced on Wednesday with visits to the Area Command, Metro, Ilorin, and 12 divisional headquarters within the Ilorin metropolis.
The inspection, according to the statement, is aimed at obtaining a first-hand assessment of officers’ preparedness, identifying operational challenges and capability gaps, and evaluating security arrangements at police formations.
During the visits, Adekimi interacted with personnel and directed them to strengthen vigilance and security around police facilities.
“Station guards must remain alert, observant and responsive at all times because they constitute the first line of defence and security for every police facility,” he said.
The CP also directed officers to adopt proactive, intelligence-driven policing and maintain professionalism, accountability and effective engagement with communities.
He warned that the command would not tolerate misconduct, corruption, extortion or other unethical practices, stressing that officers and beneficiaries found culpable would face disciplinary and legal action.
Adekimi said the surprise inspections would continue across divisions, formations and other operational locations, urging personnel to remain at their duty posts and maintain constant operational readiness.
He assured residents that the command would sustain efforts to prevent crime and protect lives and property across the state.
