
The ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has disclosed readiness to strengthen collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force( NAF) in areas of safety and defence.
The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Kana, made this known on Friday while receiving the Chief of Air staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar in Abuja.
Kana who noted the importance of Military Aviation said though the Civil Aviation is the lead in Aviation, there is need for collaboration and exchange with the Military in areas of Human resource, Safety, Defence and Capacity building.
He said he is optimistic that a harmonious relationship is possible between Military personnel, Civilians, Passengers and other airport users.
The Permanent Secretary thanked the Chief of Air Staff and assured him that he will inform the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo of his request for more space and extension of the Air Force Hanger, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja as in the case of Port-Harcourt, Aminu Kano and Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
He expressed the need to have a VIP lounge at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja as timely and a welcome development that will be looked into by the Hon. Minister and relevant Authorities.
Speaking earlier, the Chief of Air Staff acknowledged the Ministry of Aviation as strategic partner and the lead in Aviation in Nigeria.
The NAF boss in a statement by the Head,Press and Public Affairs,Odutayo Oluseyi said the Air Force is ready to partner with the Ministry particularly in the Area of Safety, Capacity building e.t.c.
He requested for more presence of the Military (Air Force) at the Ministry and her Agencies to ensure a harmonious relationship and pledged the support of the Air Force at the forth coming 1st ever International Air show in Lagos which has the potential to expose Nigeria’s cultural and economic potentials.
