The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has revealed that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has initiated over 340 projects within the last 20 months.
While making the revelation at the commissioning ceremony of newly remodeled officers’ accommodations at the NAF Officers’ Quarters, Garki, Abuja, on Friday, Air Marshal Abubakar said that of these projects, 195 had been completed, with 145 at various stages of completion.
The Air Chief said that the newly commissioned project, which includes ten blocks of two-bedroom Married Officers’ Quarters (MOQs) and a one-bedroom Single Officers’ Quarters (SOQs), is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the living conditions of NAF personnel, while emphasizing that quality housing is essential for maintaining a resilient and effective force.
Highlighting NAF’s broader infrastructure strategy, Air Marshal Abubakar said, in Abuja alone, key projects include the new NAF Headquarters Annex in Kado, a state-of-the-art sports complex, a NAF Hospital, and Mini Bases at Karimo and Karu to accommodate married personnel and transit officers.
Additionally, he announced plans to reduce NAF’s infrastructural deficit by 50% before the year’s end and introduce internet facilities across all bases to enhance communication and operational efficiency.
Beyond infrastructure, Air Marshal Abubakar outlined a holistic welfare strategy encompassing healthcare improvements, expanded education, and professional development programs. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly for their continued support in strengthening the Nigerian Air Force.
The event was attended by senior officers, dignitaries, and invited guests, reinforcing the NAF’s dedication to personnel well-being and national security.
