The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Office of Security Cooperation (OSC), Embassy of the United States of America, are seeking to ensure continuity in the maintenance and operational sustainability of an A-29 Super Tucano (ST) aircraft.
According to NAF’s Deputy Director, Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, in a statement on Thursday, this was the focus of a meeting between the
Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, and the newly appointed Chief of the OSC, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Ryan Howry, which held Wednesday, 2 October 2024 at the NAF Headquarters Nigerian Air Force (NAF)..
In view of the contract extension for the aircraft nearing its conclusion this year, the CAS emphasized the critical importance of ensuring a seamless transition so that the A-29 ST retains its relevance to NAF operational effectiveness.
Lt Col Howry reaffirmed the OSC’s commitment to providing full support, ensuring that the A-29 ST continues to play a vital role in the NAF’s missions. This collaboration aims to enhance and sustain the effectiveness and reliability of the aircraft in upcoming operations.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Chief of OSC, US Embassy, Lt Col Daniel Purvis, as well as some Branch Chiefs and Directors from HQ NAF.
