NEMA Distributes Relief Materials To Victims Of 2020 Imo Flooding

The National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) on Monday, distributed relief materials to persons affected by the 2020 flood in five communities in Oguta Local Government area of Imo State.

According to information obtained from NEMA’s official Twitter handle, the agency said that the relief items were distributed subject to the approval of the President, Muhammadu Buhari.

@nemanigeria wrote: “In continuation of humanitarian supports in communities affected by the 2020 flood, @nemanigeria today distributed relief items approved by the President, HE @MBuhari for the affected persons in five communities in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo state, @ImostateGov.

“@officialdgnema AVM MA Muhammed (rtd) who was represented by Chief Disaster Risk Reduction Officer Mr Chidi Ogundu of NEMA Owerri Operations Office, flagged-off the relief distribution at Oguta. The five communities are Oguta, Eziorsu, Ossemotor, Orsuobodo and Afiaafor.

“Present at the relief distribution were Eze (Professor) Dele Odigbo, Chief Ogbuagu Uwadi Obiekwe, SSA to the Imo State Governor, Hon Goziem Nzeribe, Imo SEMA representative, Mr John Eze, other traditional rulers and President Generals of the beneficiary communities.

“The relief assistance distributed were food and non-food items including bags rice, beans, garri, salt and cartons of tin tomato and seasoning cubes. Others were palm oil, blankets, mosquito nets, foam mattress, roofing nails, bags of cement, roofing sheets and ceiling boards.

“The beneficiaries appreciated the President, HE Muhammadu Buhari, HM @Sadiya_farouq and NEMA for the relief intervention.”

It will be recalled that on Sunday, a day earlier, NEMA had, also upon presidential approval, distributed relief materials to 283 households affected by flooding in some parts of Enugu State in 2020.
