Reactions have continued to trail the announcement of a new identification card by the National identity Management Commission (NIMC) on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by the Head, Corporate Communications of NIMC, Kayode Adegoke on Friday, April 5, 2024, the new Identification (ID) card was a collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigeria Inter-bank Settlement System (NIBSS) to
be powered by AfriGO.
Adegoke hinted that the new card would have payment functionality for all types of social and financial services.

There’s ATM cards that contains enough information of more than 65% of our population, you can work with banks and it will be easier and smoother to navigate. Putting Nigerians through another round of stress is unnecessary. This smells like a well packaged fraud as usual. We are not kids anymore”.
