The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has disclosed that out of the 13,625 MW installed capacity of the 28 plants in the county, only an average of 4,286MW was available for transmission in April 2026, indicating a Plant Availability Factor (PAF) of 31%.
This was contained in the April 2026 Operational Performance Factsheet for Nigeria’s grid-connected power plants released by the Commission on Friday.
According to the Factsheet, the average hourly generation during the month was 4, 048MWWh/h, indicating that 94% of available generation capacity was utilized.
It also revealed that the monthly average lower grid voltage of 302.60kV and average upper grid voltage of 353.40kV recorded during the month exceeded the prescribed limits of 313.50kV-346.50kV.
Similarly, it said the average lower grid frequency of 49.20Hz and average upper grid frequency of 50.76Hz recorded during the month exceeded the prescribed limits of 49.75Hz-50.25Hz.
The Factsheet said Ihovbor_2, Jebba_1, and Kainji_1 stood out with strong availability and high utilisation levels in the month under review.
