The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has opened registration for PenCare, a free healthcare initiative designed to ease the medical burden on retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).
The programme targets retirees aged 60 and above who receive a monthly pension of N70,000 or less from a Pension Fund Administrator (PFA).
According to PenCom, only 30,000 eligible retirees would be admitted into the pilot phase, and slots would be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
PenCom described PenCare as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project aimed at preserving the “dignity and well-being” of retirees by reducing the burden of medical expenses.
The Commission said retirees wishing to enroll can register by scanning a barcode published in select national newspapers or visit the website of PenCom at www.pencom.gov.ng or participating websites of PFAs.
