General Abdulsalami guided the country through a peaceful transition to democratic governance, laying the foundation for the democratic dispensation Nigeria continues to build upon today.

“True leadership is measured not by the accumulation of power, but by the positive impact one leaves on people and institutions,” Obi said, adding that the elder statesman’s life remains a testament to service guided by responsibility and commitment to the common good.

Obi prayed for continued good health, wisdom, and strength for the General, expressing hope that he would keep serving humanity and the nation.

General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who served as a Nigeria’s Head of State from 1998 to 1999 is widely praised for steering the country out of military rule and handing over power to democratically elected government -a transition widely regarded as a turning point in Nigeria’s political history.
