Power Outage Expected In Ijebu-Ode As TCN Announces Scheduled Maintenance

By Sunday Etuka

Electricity consumers in Ijebu-Ode and its environs should brace for a temporary power outage this Friday, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out annual preventive maintenance on switchgear equipment along the Sagamu/Ijebu-Ode 132kV line.

The maintenance work, which TCN describes as routine and scheduled, will last three hours, running from 10am to 1pm. During this window, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to off-take electricity for distribution to its customers within Ijebu-Ode and surrounding areas.

Preventive maintenance of this nature is a regular exercise carried out by TCN across its transmission network to ensure the safety, reliability and optimal performance of critical infrastructure such as switchgear equipment, which plays a key role in controlling and protecting electrical circuits.

Such exercises, though they result in brief service interruptions, are aimed at preventing more prolonged or unplanned outages that could arise from equipment failure.

TCN has apologized to electricity consumers in the affected areas for any inconvenience the exercise may cause, and assured that normal power supply will resume once the maintenance is completed.
