River APC Crisis: Court Adjourns Suit For Want Of Proper Counsel Representation

The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned a suit filed by the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the Attorney General of the state and four others.
The APC is seeking to ratify issues of participation in the October 5, 2024 local government election, however, during the Thursday hearing, the plaintiff faced representation issues.
Gordy Uche, SAN, informed the court of an application for change of counsel and discontinuance of the suit.
Joseph Daudu, SAN, another counsel for the plaintiff, attempted to tender a letter from the National Legal Adviser of the party dated July 8, 2024.
The counsel for the defendants however acknowledged the application for change of counsel and notice of withdrawal filed by Gordy Uche, while opposing the documents sort to be tendered by Daudu from the Bar.
Justice Lifu adjourned the case to September 3, allowing parties to resolve representation issues and file necessary processes.
The APC in the originating summons before the court is amongst other things asking the court to set aside all proceedings, acts a things done or purported to have been done by the Defendants in furtherance of the conduct of the purported Local Government Elections in Rivers State that are, by virtue of sections 13 and 20 of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, in contravention, breach or violation of items 1 and 12 on the Cancurrent Legisiative List; Part II of the Second Schedule to the Constitution ofthe FederalRepublic of Nigeria 1999 as amended and sections 28, 29 and 103(3) of the Electoral Act 2022.
