At the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery, Late Brigadier General Omo Braimo, Captain Ismail, and other gallant soldiers were, on Wednesday, April 15, laid to rest with full military honours. Brigadier General Braimo, commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade, and several soldiers were killed in a coordinated Boko Haram/ISWAP attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State, northeast Nigeria, early on Thursday, April 9, 2026, highlighting the enduring security challenges in the region.
The ceremony drew top dignitaries, including the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, alongside the Honourable Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, and other senior military officials, reflecting a shared recognition of the price paid by those on the frontlines.
