An armed attack during a drug raid in Jahi area of Abuja has left three operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
A statement on Friday by the anti-narcotics agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, said the officers were conducting a raid based on intelligence and surveillance reports when they were ambushed by unidentified gunmen.
The operation carried out at an uncompleted building in the NNPC area of Jahi, led to the recovery of 74 bottles of codeine, 10 litres of codeine syrup, 48 grams of tramadol (225mg), 4.9 kilograms of skunk (a potent cannabis strain), and five Android phones.
Babafemi disclosed that the NDLEA team came under attack as they made their way out of the location, adding that three officers sustained injuries; one was shot in the rib, while the others were hit in the back and leg.
