Muslims across Nigeria should look beyond the festivities of Eid el-Maulud and reflect deeply on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), President Bola Tinubu has said.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, to mark the celebration, the President described the occasion as a time for introspection, prayer, and drawing lessons from the Prophet’s “exceptional virtues,” even as he extended his congratulations to the Muslim community.
“The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” he said.
The President also called on religious leaders to use the period to pray for the country and to encourage their followers to reflect the Prophet’s teachings in their commitment to national development.
Tinubu further urged those marking the Maulud festival to reach out to the needy and vulnerable in the spirit of the season, and called for prayers against insecurity and other challenges facing parts of the country.
