Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has expressed shock over the death of Tordue Salem, saying the circumstances surrounding his death deserves to be thoroughly investigated.
The governor stated this on Friday in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary(CPS) Nathaniel Ikyur.
TheFact Nigeria recalled that Salem who before his death was a reporter with the Vanguard newspaper, was declared missing after he was last seen on October 13.
The Nigerian Police Force ( NPF) on Friday said, the Mr Salem was killed by a hit-and – run driver at Mabushi area of Abuja.
Consequently, the governor said, “such a mysterious recovery of the body of the deceased reporter was suspicious and deserves to be thoroughly investigated,” he said.
Ortom appealed to the Inspector General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS) and other sister agencies to do everything possible to unravel the mystery surrounding the gruesome murder of the Benue-born journalist.
Governor Ortom reiterated that the Benue State Government is always committed to the safety of all her citizens both at home and in the diaspora and will not rest on its oars until the perpetrators of this heinous act do not go unpunished.
