Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 27 kidnapped residents and recovered a motorcycle in separate operations in Katsina State.
The task force’s Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
Danja said troops on October 16 responded to a distress call over terrorist activities in Gamji community, Sabuwa Local Government Area, where 27 residents—15 males and 12 females—had been abducted.
He said the troops pursued the terrorists along the Gangare-Kamba axis and engaged them with superior firepower, forcing them to flee and abandon their captives.
All 27 victims were rescued unharmed, profiled and handed over to community leaders for reunification with their families.
In a separate operation on the same day, troops on a fighting patrol near Kurba village in Kankara LGA encountered terrorists on three motorcycles. The suspects fled on sighting the troops, abandoning one motorcycle.
The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their swift response and gallantry, reaffirming the task force’s commitment to restoring peace and security in Katsina, Zamfara and neighbouring states.
