We Are Committed To Protecting Critical Infrastructure – NSCDC Chief

The Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment toS safeguarding all critical national assets and infrastructure across the nation.
This was contained in a statement by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, CSC Babawale Afolabi, on Wednesday.
Speaking at the 2024 North West Security Summit in Katsina State during the week, CG Audi elucidated on the commitment of the Corps towards promoting safety and security in the nation, noting that his vision for renewed strategies in the protection of the critical national assets and infrastructure is in line with standard best practices.
He therefore called for effective water tight synergy and collaboration amongst security agencies in order to tackle emerging security challenges in the nation
The CG with other service chiefs further welcomed the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, who was represented by the Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima GCON at the Umar Musa Yar’adua International Airport Katsina, Katsina State.
The Vice President thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his immense contribution to enhancing democracy and providing a platform for discussing the way forward regarding the security architecture of the Northwest and the nation at large.
He noted that the summit is a gathering of key stakeholders with the responsibility of addressing the pressing security challenges bedevilling the region.
Delivering the keynote address, Vice President Shettima emphasized on government commitments to sustainable development and a unified, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria, adding that, “the Federal Government is combining military interventions with police
reform, enhancing local policing, implementing peace building programs, promoting dialogue and launching educational campaigns to address the root causes of conflicts”.
Notable personalities who attended the summit themed: Regional Cooperation for Securing lives and livelihood in Northwest Nigeria include the former president, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, Umar Namadi, governor of Jigawa State, Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara State, Minister of Defence, Muhammadu Badaru, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, and Minister of Culture, Hanatu Musawa.
Others include the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar, DG National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Saad Abubakar among others.
