$8.4Bn FDI, $10Bn FID Reflect Tinubu’s Pro-business Mindset -TMSG

By Sunday Etuka

The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) says the growing interest of foreign investors in Nigeria’s economy reflects the pro-business approach President Bola Tinubu has brought to governance since 2023, citing $8.4 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows and about $10 billion in Final Investment Decisions (FID) recorded under his administration.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, the group said data from the United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD) shows Nigeria attracted a total of $8.39 billion in FDI between 2022 and 2025, broken down as $895 million in 2022, $1.873 billion in 2023, $1.614 billion in 2024 and $4.005 billion in 2025.

TMSG noted that the 2025 figure alone accounts for nearly half of the four year total, describing it as clear evidence of steady improvement in capital importation under the Tinubu administration.

The group also pointed to Final Investment Decisions by International Oil Companies (IOCs) as a sign of renewed confidence in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, saying the administration has unlocked over $10 billion in FID following upstream reforms that cut contracting timelines by more than 50 per cent.

TMSG further highlighted the rise in Nigeria’s gross foreign exchange reserves, which it said have grown by about $12.76 billion year-on-year to reach $54.61 billion as of September 2026, the highest level in 17 years.

It said this improved external liquidity position has informed positive reviews of the economy by major global credit rating agencies.

While acknowledging that these macroeconomic gains have yet to translate significantly into microeconomic stability, TMSG expressed confidence that the administration was not relaxing its efforts, urging Nigerians to keep faith as the economy shows signs of turning the corner.

The group warned that reversing the ongoing economic reforms would erode current gains and place the country in a difficult position.
