My Wife, 33 Govt Officials Test Positive For Coronavirus In Benue -Ortom
The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has disclosed that his wife, Eunice Ortom and 33 other government officials have tested positive for Coronavirus.
Addressing newsmen yesterday in Makurdi, the Benue State Capital, Governor Ortom said one of his sons, cooks and housemaids also, tested positive.
He said, several government officials including the Secretary to the State Government Prof. Anthony Ijohor, Chief of Staff Terwase Orbunde and the Head of Service Mrs. Veronica Onyeke tested positive for the disease.
According to the Governor, over 33 top government officials as well as vice chairman of the State Action Committee on Covid-19 have tested positive for Coronvirus and are undergoing treatment.
“I tested negative but will undergo another test in three (3) days time. My wife has reached out to people she had contact with. We should be shy to dismiss our status.Testing positive is not a death sentence. Several people globally had tested positive and after observing the World Health Organisation, WHO protocols on prevention and treatment of the virus, they came out negative. It can be treated and cured..
“For now, I will go into isolation. After three (3) days, there will be another test on me. One lesson Benue people should learn is that everyone should make themselves available for testing. We should take the issue of O service go social distancing, wearing of face mask and washing of hands very seriously”,Ortom advised.
The Governor intimated that the State Action Committee on Covid 19 will meet next week and possibly review the lock down on worship places, markets and other parks.
Recall, the Vice Chancellor, Benue State University, Professor Msugh Kembe was also recently announced to have tested positive for the dreaded COVID-19 disease.
In his verified Facebook account, the Vice Chancellor said that the results of his test, came out on Monday and returned positive.
