Two Roman Catholic priests, Rev. Fr. Donatus Cleophas Sulaiman and Rev. Fr. John Mark Chietnum, have been kidnapped by gunmen in Kaduna State.
According to a statement on Friday by the Communications Director, Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Fr Chris Omotosho, the priests were kidnapped at the parish rectory of Christ the King Catholic Church, Yalding Garu, Lee L. G. A., Kaduna State about 5:15pm.
The statement said ,”On a sad note, we announce the kidnapping of one of us, Rev. Fr. Donatus Cleophas Sulaiman, parish priest of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Shagari Low-cost, Katsina State.
“Fr Donatus Cleophas is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, working in the Diocese of Sokoto ( Fidei Donum).
“He was kidnapped along with Rev. Fr. John Mark Chietnum both of Kafanchan Diocese at the parish rectory of Christ the King Catholic Church, Yalding Garu, Lee L. G. A., Kaduna State, at about 5:15pm of today, Friday 15/07/2022, as they were on a Diocesan function.
“We enjoin the entire people of God to faithful join hands in praying for the safety & quick release of out priests. We also pray for the true conversion of & God’s mercy on hardened criminals, kidnappers & bandits. May Our Lady, Mother of Perpetual Help intercede for us. Amen,”the statement said.
