The bodies of Herbert Wigwe, Wife and Daughter were committed to Mother Earth on Saturday, March 9, 2024, amid tears from hundreds of sympathisers in Rivers State.
The Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe died in helicopter crash in California, near the Nevada border, on Friday, February 9, 2024, in the United States of America.
Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and son Chizi died in the crash alongside Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), and two others.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), an independent agency charged by the US Congress to investigate every civil aviation accident and significant accidents in the other modes of transportation across the United States of America had blamed bad weather for the crash.
However, after the funeral service and interment ceremony yesterday, the bodies were moved from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Isiokpo to the Wigwe University which he built in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, and lowered into the grave.
Some dignitaries present at the funeral service were; Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Peter Obi, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, business leader Aliko Dangote, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, Gov. Alex Otti, Gov. Dapo Abiodun, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Gov. Babajide Sawno-Olu, and others.
The late Herbert had already been replaced by Ms. Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Access Holdings Plc.
