Eid-El-Fitr: FG Declares Thursday Additional Holiday

The Federal Government has approved Thursday 11th April, 2024 as an additional public holiday for the celebration of
Eid -El-Fitr.
Minister of Interior, Dr. Tunji Ojo made the declaration, according to the statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Aishetu Gogo on Tuesday.
Dr. Gogo said, the Minister, while congratulating the muslim Ummah for a successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation reiterates President Bola Tinubu firm commitment to providing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all to thrive.
The federal government had earlier declared Tuesday, 9th and Wednesday, 10th April, 2024 as Public Holidays to mark Eid-el-Fitr Celebration but the moon was not sighted on Monday as planned, consequently, called for additional day.
Also, yesterday, the President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, declared Wednesday, April 10, 2024 as Eid-el-Fitri.
This follows the report of no sighting of the new moon by the National Moon Sighting Committees on Monday.
