In a statement signed and made available on Thursday by the Secretary-General of APRA, Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan, the association also stood in solidarity with the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) over the unfortunate incident.

The pan-African professional body for PR practitioners on the continent urged the Government of Kenya to put the people of Kenya first and in a show of conversational capacity as already indicated by the Presidency, undertake stakeholder consultations with empathy and an openness to reconciliation.

While commiserating with the families of those who died and wished a speedy recovery to those who were injured during the protests, APRA fervently prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

Recall that Kenyans have been protesting against the new taxes about to be introduced by the William Ruto-led government in Kenya amidst the hunger in the land, leaving at least 23 people dead and scores injured.

Although President Ruto yesterday declined to sign the contentious Finance Bill sent to him by the Parliament, the protesters vowed to keep up their demonstrations until he resigns from office.
