Borno: Police Rearrest Escaped Convict

The Borno State Police Command, has successfully re-arrested escaped convict Kyari Kur (aka Henry).

The Command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

TheFact Daily gathers that 28-year-old Kur, who was serving a jail term for criminal conspiracy and theft at the Medium Security Custodian Center in Maiduguri, leveraged on the devastating flood incident in September, and escaped from the facility when its fence collapsed.

ASP Daso explained that on Thursday, October 10, 2024, police surveillance at Gubio divisional headquarters received a credible tip-off that Kur was sighted in Gubio town. The police swiftly responding to the information, apprehended Kur, who has been profiled and will be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further action.

Reacting to Kur’s rearrest, the Police Commissioner in the state, Muhammed Yusuf, reiterated the Command’s committment to ensuring public safety and justice.

He expressed appreciation to the public for their cooperation, and urged them to continue providing timely information and report any suspicious activities or information regarding fugitives to the nearest police station or through the following channels: 0806 807 5581, 0802 347 3293.
