The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a precision airstrike against terrorist hideouts in Chikide and Degbewa, located deep within the treacherous Mandara Mountains, along the northern part of the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
NAF’s Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, who disclosed this on Tuesday, noted that the attack, which took place in a nighttime operation on Sunday, March 16, 2025, targeted the insurgents’ command hub, delivering a devastating blow to their stronghold and disrupting their activities.
Reports have it that the notorious terrorist leader, Ali Ngulde, and his fighters had planned a high-level meeting at the location, while the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions confirmed terrorist activity at a key assembly point in Degbewa, as well as the presence of heavily fortified structures equipped with solar-powered installations indicative of an existing active command hub.
Acting on this intelligence, the NAF launched a precision night strike, catching the terrorists off guard.
During the coordinated firepower, terrorists’ logistics and command centres were destroyed, igniting large fires that obliterated multiple structures and eliminated scores of terrorists in their hideouts.
This operation, according to the statement, was a significant blow to Boko Haram’s fighting capability, creating favourable conditions for ground troops to advance and dominate the battlespace.
Group Captain Ali noted that the successful execution of this night operation demonstrates the NAF’s growing dominance in both day and night air power capabilities, proving that insurgents can no longer operate under the cover of darkness.
