Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Diri’s resignation was reportedly confirmed by his spokesperson, Daniel Alabara, on Wednesday.
The governor resigned along with 17 members of the State House of Assembly.
The Assembly comprises 17 PDP members, 5 APC members and 2 APGA members, making a total 24 member-House of Assembly.
With the development, APC now has 22 members, following the defection of the 17 PDP members. If the remaining two APGA members follow suit, the APC members will be 24 in all and take control of the House.
Diri, according to unconfirmed reports would be pitching his tent with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
