By Anne Osemekeh, Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced the commencement of activities for the 2026 National Police Day, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”

The Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, in a statement on Tuesday, said the week-long celebration will begin on Monday, 30 March 2026, and culminate in a grand finale on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.

The theme underscores the Force’s renewed commitment to strengthening collaboration with the public, improving transparency, and building sustainable trust as the bedrock of effective policing.

According to Placid, an organising committee has been constituted to drive the programme, chaired by AIG Akoh Benedict Gabriel (AIG CTU), with the Force spokesman serving as secretary. The committee includes senior officers from key departments such as FCID, PMF, EOD-CBRN, and Medical Services.

Activities lined up include nationwide sanitation and free medical outreach on March 30; a national walkathon across state capitals on March 31; public sensitisation on electoral violence and road safety on April 1; and the presentation of cheques to families of fallen officers on April 2.

The celebration will climax on April 7 with a ceremonial parade at Eagle Square, featuring tactical displays by specialised units including the PMF, K-9, EOD, and CTU.

The NPF reaffirmed its commitment to people-centred policing and called on community leaders, civil society groups, and other stakeholders to participate in the activities.
