Chief Adelabu, in a statement on Monday, by his media office described the report as “entirely false, misleading, and a fabrication,” insisting that no such meeting took place at any time.

The statement said “Adelabu, a leading governorship aspirant in Oyo State, has been fully engaged with his official duties in Abuja and has not participated in any political gathering in Lagos or elsewhere as alleged.

“The Honourable Minister did not meet with Chief Akande, Chief Osoba, or any group of South-West leaders as claimed. He has remained in Abuja carrying out his official responsibilities.”

The media office expressed concern over what it termed a pattern of inaccurate reporting, noting that the same publication had earlier reported that a governorship candidate had been endorsed in Oyo State—an assertion that is also false.

“We wonder why a respected national newspaper would lend itself to be used in peddling falsehood. Who is it that is so afraid of Adelabu that they continue to use the media to push a false narrative?”
The statement also cautioned against the spread of unverified information capable of misleading the public and creating unnecessary political tension, urging stakeholders to rely on official communications.

It further reaffirmed that Adelabu remains focused on his duties in the power sector and advised the public to disregard any claims suggesting political decisions or alignments arising from what it described as a “fictitious meeting.”
