The Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) has commended the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for strengthening the governance structure of the institute through the appointment of an Interim Chairman and members of its Governing Board.

This was contained in a statement signed by DBI’s President David Daser on Thursday.

The institute described the appointments as a demonstration of the Commission’s commitment to repositioning DBI to play a more strategic role in Nigeria’s digital transformation and human capital development drive.

Princess Oforitsenere Emiko was appointed Interim Chairman of the Governing Board, while the NCC’s Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Engr. Abraham Oshadami, and Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management, Ms. Rimini Makama, were named board members.

Reacting to the appointments, Daser, said the move underscored the priority being accorded to digital skills development and institutional growth within the nation’s telecommunications ecosystem.

He praised the NCC Board and the Commission’s Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Aminu Maida, for what he described as their foresight in constituting the interim board.

“The appointment of these distinguished personalities is both strategic and timely. Their collective expertise, leadership acumen and wealth of experience will undoubtedly strengthen the Institute’s capacity to deliver on its mandate as Nigeria’s premier ICT and digital skills development institution,” Daser said.

According to him, the institute is optimistic that the board would provide the guidance needed to expand digital literacy programmes, foster innovation and strengthen workforce development initiatives across the country.

The DBI boss noted that the institute remains central to efforts aimed at building the digital competencies required to support Nigeria’s growing technology sector and emerging digital economy.

He further acknowledged the NCC’s continued support for the institute, describing it as critical to DBI’s evolution into a centre of excellence for ICT training, research and innovation.
