Ike Bags Catholic Church’s 2026 Humanitarian, Service Award

The Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria, All Saints Parish, Dutse Alhaji, of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, has awarded the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, with an Outstanding Achievement Award, tagged “2026 Humanitarian and service award.”

The award was received on her behalf by the Council’s Auditor, Comrade Rosemary Ukoko-Tega on Sunday during morning Mass.

Receiving the award, Comrade expressed deep gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve and dedicated the honour to God and to every member of the NUJ-FCT Council.

In an interview, she thanked the organisers for recognising her work and for “fishing her out” despite her distance, stressing that she does not take the recognition lightly.

“It’s not just an award, it’s an invitation to do more,” Comrade Ike said. “I pledge to continue serving humanity and advancing the cause of journalism with humility and dedication, through the help of God.”

The award adds to a growing list of recognitions Comrade Ike has received over the years, in honour of her professional excellence in journalism and her humanitarian efforts.
