Lagos Police Arrest 147 In Crackdown On Criminal Hideouts

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspects and recovered weapons, illicit drugs and other exhibits during an intensified crackdown on criminal hideouts under its ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abimbola Adebisi, in a statement on Monday, said the coordinated operation, was carried out at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, and targeted criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo and other identified black spots across the state.

Acting on credible intelligence, operatives from various formations of the Command raided the locations to flush out hoodlums and other criminal elements.

Items recovered during the operation include 250 expended cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, a pair of scissors, a lighter, assorted charms and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

The Police said all 147 suspects are in custody while investigations continue to determine their individual roles. Those found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Commending the operatives for their professionalism, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining Operation KO S’AYE across the state to deny criminals safe haven and enhance public safety.

He also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to assist the Police in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders and improving security across Lagos State.
