Power Outage Expected In Parts Of Abuja As TCN Carries Out Urgent Repairs

By Sunday Etuka

Electricity customers in Abuja are expected to experience a temporary power outage on Wednesday, 2nd September 2026, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) shuts down its 330/132kV Gwagwalada Transmission Substation for urgent repairs.

The three-hour maintenance window, running from 10 am to 1 pm, would allow TCN’s technical crew to fix the 33kV 6MVA earthing reactor at the substation.

As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) would be unable to supply electricity to Aso Villa, Asokoro, African Medical Center, Kabusa, EFAB Estate, Apo Resettlement, Zone E Extension, Trademoore, and neighboring areas during this period.

TCN has apologized to affected customers for the disruption, noting that the exercise was necessary to maintain the stability of the transmission network.
