Power Outage Hits Four Abuja Feeders After Transformer Fault At Apo Substation

Thousands of electricity consumers in parts of Abuja are experiencing power disruptions after a transformer fault at the Apo 132/33kV Transmission Substation early Wednesday, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced.
In a statement, TCN said the 100MVA TR4 transformer tripped in the early hours of the day, cutting supply to four 33kV feeders, namely H31, H33, H35, and H37.
According to the company, preliminary investigations point to an oil spillage on the Red Phase High Voltage bushing of the transformer as the likely cause of the fault.
TCN said its maintenance team has been deployed to the site to conduct a detailed inspection and determine the precise cause of the trip before repairs can begin.
The company apologised for the disruption to customers of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) fed by the affected feeders, adding that engineers were working to restore bulk power supply as quickly as possible.
