Tinubu Woos Bolloré Group To Expand Investment In Nigeria

By Sunday Etuka

Nigeria’s creative and digital sectors are set for fresh investment after President Bola Tinubu met with French media mogul, Vincent Bolloré in Paris, with the Bolloré Group confirming plans to deepen its footprint in film, entertainment and fibre-optic infrastructure across the country.

The meeting, held during President Tinubu’s working vacation, brought together the President and executives of the Bolloré Group, whose portfolio spans Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.

The Group described Nigeria as the spearhead of Africa’s cultural renaissance, pointing to the global rise of Nollywood and Afrobeats as evidence of growing international appetite for Nigerian content.

President Tinubu, in a statement on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, welcomed the localisation plans, saying Nigeria’s expanding cultural influence offers a chance to bring more production, investment and jobs back home.

He reaffirmed his administration’s focus on job creation for young people and continued investment in digitalisation, and pledged support for efforts that grow the creative and digital economy, build local talent and strengthen infrastructure.

He tied the discussion to his Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said aims to convert Nigeria’s talent, enterprise and cultural reach into real opportunities and better livelihoods for citizens.
