TCN Completes Repairs At Kukwaba Substation, Announces Weekend Maintenance In Suleja

Power has been fully restored to the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation after the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) completed emergency repairs on a faulty circuit breaker component, the company announced Friday.
TCN said its maintenance crew isolated the substation’s 60MVA transformer at 1:35pm on Thursday to replace a damaged blue-phase circuit breaker pole on the 33kV L31 feeder.
The transformer was returned to service by 8:31pm the same day, following the successful completion of the repair work. TCN thanked Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) customers for their patience during the outage.
In a separate notice, TCN announced a scheduled maintenance exercise at the Suleja Transmission Substation this weekend.
The annual preventive maintenance will take place on the Gwarinpa–Suleja 132/33kV line 2 bay switchgears and associated equipment from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, September 26.
As a result, AEDC customers in Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and surrounding areas should expect a 20-minute power interruption during the exercise.
TCN explained that the brief outage will allow load to be transferred from the Gwarinpa–Suleja Line 2 to the Kubwa–Suleja Line 1, enabling the maintenance to proceed without a prolonged disruption.
The power company apologised for any inconvenience the exercise may cause affected consumers.
