The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) has met with the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) to discuss the implementation of the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Agenda (NIIRA) 2025 and progress on the Risk-Based Capital (RBC) project.
The NIA delegation, led by its Chairman, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, paid a courtesy visit to the Commission as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the industry and its regulator and advance the development of the Nigerian insurance market.
The visit gave both sides a platform to engage on key industry priorities and emerging developments in the sector.
The reform agenda and the RBC project were central to the talks, as both are considered pivotal to improving the industry’s resilience, competitiveness and long-term sustainability.
The two institutions also exchanged views on strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening market capacity, improving operational efficiency, deepening insurance penetration and fostering a more robust risk management culture across the industry.
The engagement underscored the importance of sustained partnership between operators and the regulator in driving reforms, strengthening policyholder confidence, promoting financial stability and positioning the sector for sustainable growth and a greater contribution to national economic development.
