The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its Presidential Campaign Council, with the National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, calling on members to bring the party’s national and grassroots structures together, take the Tinubu administration’s record to every community and win public support for the President’s second term in 2027.
Yilwatda said the task ahead is a shared responsibility that demands coordination, discipline, strategic communication and continuous engagement with Nigerians. He spoke at the inauguration of the council in Abuja.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, he said the campaign must rest on the administration’s record, an honest admission of current challenges and a credible vision for the country’s future.
He said the government’s economic reforms, along with its investments in roads, power, gas, railways, ports, agriculture and digital connectivity, must be clearly explained to Nigerians, with emphasis on how they affect productivity, jobs, commerce and national development.
“Our responsibility is to explain what has been achieved, what is progressing and what remains to be done. We must demonstrate how these reforms and investments will translate into practical improvements in the lives of Nigerians,” he said.
The APC chairman stressed that the campaign’s success would depend on close cooperation among national leaders, governors, legislators, state chapters, local government structures and ward members, so that the party’s message reaches every community.
He also highlighted the role of women, youths and persons with disabilities, calling for their meaningful participation and leadership in the campaign.
“Our women are indispensable to party organisation and community mobilisation. Our youths must be engaged as partners in shaping Nigeria’s future, while persons with disabilities must enjoy full, accessible and inclusive participation in our democratic process,” he stated.
Yilwatda urged party members to take on the assignment with confidence but cautioned against complacency.
“Confidence is not complacency. It is the determination to prepare thoroughly, work together and earn the trust of the people,” he said.
He said the APC would ask Nigerians to back President Tinubu’s re-election by showing evidence of progress, explaining government policies and setting out the work still to be done.
According to him, the campaign must speak directly to citizens’ concerns about the cost of living, security, employment, education, healthcare, agricultural productivity and economic opportunities.
The national chairman also called for peaceful, issue-based politics and acknowledged the legitimate role of the opposition in a democracy.
“The APC will present its case with confidence, defend its record with facts and trust Nigerians to make their choice through a credible democratic process,” he said.
Yilwatda reaffirmed the commitment of the party’s National Working Committee to work closely with the Presidential Campaign Council and all party structures to achieve their common goals.
He urged members to remain united and focused, saying the party had a vision to communicate, a future to build and the confidence of Nigerians to earn.
“One mission, one responsibility: to work together, communicate effectively and earn the mandate of Nigerians for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.”
