Atiku Is Suffering From “Agitated Depression” Over Tinubu’s Presidency -Keyamo

By Sunday Etuka

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is suffering from a form of depression because President Bola Tinubu defeated him politically to become President.

In a post on his X handle, Keyamo said it was now “very obvious that Atiku Abubakar is a pained and very bitter fellow.”

According to him, the bitterness comes from Atiku’s belief that Tinubu outsmarted him politically to win the Presidency, a fact the former Vice President “can’t mentally deal with.”

Keyamo described Atiku’s recent criticism of the President as more than opposition politics. “What we are witnessing with all his recent tantrums against Mr. President, veiled as opposition heroics, is actually a higher form of DEPRESSION in the field of mental health called AGITATED DEPRESSION,” he said.

The minister recalled that Tinubu was Governor of Lagos State while Atiku was Vice President of Nigeria, and that Atiku was generally regarded as politically ahead of Tinubu in the pecking order of aspirants to the Presidency.

He said he would not retell the political journey of the two politicians after they left office in 2007, sometimes in union and sometimes in disunion, with their eyes fixed on “the ultimate prize.”

Keyamo said that “through a combination of fate, luck, divine interventions and political dexterity,” Tinubu finally won the Presidency “at the first try,” despite an ambition that dated back to 1993.

“Here lies his pain, anger, despair and depression,” he said of Atiku.

The minister also reminded Atiku that power comes from God. “Despite all the invectives he has poured on the President of late, power is given only by God Almighty, not by man,” he said.

Keyamo said his favourite Bible verse since the age of 10 is Ecclesiastes 9:11, which reads: “I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.”

He urged people to show sympathy rather than encouragement. “We should all pity Atiku Abubakar rather than goad him on,” he said, adding that those close to the former Vice President “should actually administer antidepressants on him.”

Keyamo also predicted political consequences for Atiku. “Rather than win supporters, he will lose the most intelligent ones by his recent posturing,” he said.

He concluded that “Atiku Abubakar urgently needs mental health support at this critical time as he finally peters out into political oblivion.”

The statement reflects Keyamo’s views and has not been independently verified as a medical assessment of Atiku Abubakar.
