By Sunday Etuka
Nigeria’s journey to a $1 trillion economy and the role of dependable electricity in achieving it will take centre stage in Abuja on Thursday, November 12, 2026, when the Power Correspondents Association of Nigeria (PCAN) holds its 6th Annual Conference.
The conference, themed “$1trn Economy: Nigeria’s Roadmap to Reliable and Affordable Power Supply,” will be headlined by the Minister of Power, Chief Joseph Tegbe, and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FGN Power Company Limited, Kenny O. Anuwe.
In a statement on Sunday by the Chairman of the 2026 PCAN Conference Committee, Chidi Ugwu, the Minister of Power is expected to chair the event, while Anuwe will deliver the keynote address on the topic “FGN Power: Progress, Priorities and the Road Ahead.”
He is expected to highlight the company’s achievements, strategic priorities and contributions to the development of the country’s electricity sector.
The gathering will bring together policymakers, regulators, electricity generation and distribution companies, investors, development partners, industry experts and journalists to examine strategies for tackling Nigeria’s power challenges.
Speaking ahead of the event, PCAN Chairman, Mr. Obas Esiedesa, said the conference comes at a critical time as the Federal Government pursues reforms and investments aimed at improving electricity supply, strengthening infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for economic growth.
“With Nigeria pursuing its ambition of building a $1 trillion economy, access to reliable and affordable electricity remains critical to industrial expansion, business competitiveness, job creation and improved living standards,” he said.
Esiedesa added that the conference would offer stakeholders a platform to examine the relationship between the country’s economic ambitions and the performance of its electricity sector.
Discussions are expected to focus on power sector reforms, investment opportunities, infrastructure development, financing mechanisms and sustainable strategies for improving electricity supply nationwide.
The Minister’s participation is expected to provide insight into the Federal Government’s policy direction, reform priorities and plans to address persistent challenges across the electricity value chain.
The keynote presentation by the FGN Power chief is likewise expected to outline the company’s ongoing interventions, strategic priorities and role in the government’s efforts to strengthen the sector.
The annual conference forms part of PCAN’s engagement with critical stakeholders in the electricity industry, offering a platform for informed discussion, professional exchange and improved public understanding of developments in the sector.
The 6th edition will be held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall, NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
